About Community Clinics
Whether you grew up without access to swim lessons, had negative experiences around water, or are simply ready to build confidence, this 75-minute clinic is designed to meet you exactly where you are.

Our Community Water Safety Clinic is a low-cost, trauma-informed introduction to the essential skills every adult deserves to know in order to feel safer and more empowered in and around the water. This program is specifically created for adults who have little to no formal swim experience — and who may be navigating long-held fears or generational barriers to learning.

At Fitness Alive, we believe water safety is a matter of equity, access, and dignity. With cultural awareness, our instructors create a supportive, judgment-free environment where every participant is encouraged to move at their own pace.

What You’ll Learn
This hands-on clinic focuses on the foundational water safety skills that many adults never had the opportunity to develop, including:

  • How to safely enter and exit the water

  • How to recover to standing after a fall or submersion

  • Introduction to floating and feeling comfortable with buoyancy

  • Basic kicking and propulsion to move through the water

  • How to return to the wall after a jump or glide (comfort permitting)

  • Strategies for staying calm, orienting your body, and regaining control

A Trauma-Informed, Empowering Experience

We recognize that many adults — especially within communities of color — carry a complex relationship with water shaped by history, access, and lived experience. Our team approaches instruction with compassion, patience, and cultural sensitivity.

Your comfort sets the pace. Your voice matters. You will not be pushed — only supported.

Who This Is For

  • Adults ages 16 and up

  • Individuals with no prior swim lessons or limited water experience

  • Anyone seeking to build water confidence in a safe, inclusive space
